Hi, I’m Antoinette Atuah, owner of Atuah Osteopathy in Westhoughton.

I provide individualised osteopathic treatment using classical and cranial osteopathic approaches, with a particular focus on understanding how the body is functioning as a. whole.

Our APPROACH

I practise osteopathy with a strong belief in the body’s inherent capacity to heal, adapt and
regulate itself.

The body is constantly working to maintain balance and health. Pain and other symptoms can arise when the demands placed upon the body begin to exceed its ability to adapt, or when normal movement and function become disrupted.

My role is not simply to treat the area where a symptom is felt, but to understand the person as a whole. Through classical and cranial osteopathy, I use a refined, hands-on approach to assess how the body is moving and functioning, identifying areas of restriction, tension and strain.

Treatment is gentle, individualised and responsive. Rather than forcing the body to change, I aim to create the conditions that allow its own natural healing and regulatory processes to work more effectively.

For me, osteopathy is about working with the body, not simply working on it.

What to EXPECT?

Your practitioner will take a thorough case history in the initial consultation. Some questions may seem irrelevant but we’re trying to build a complete picture of how you have used your body over the years and the current state of your mind as well as your body.

Your practitioner will then examine you, take a general look at your posture, how you move, how the spine moves and do some tests to determine if osteopathic treatment is appropriate. If appropriate you will receive treatment in the first consultation.
